Since the end of 2022, the Academy of Classical Music (AKH) has taken over the administration and further development of the website antonin-dvorak.cz, which is the largest existing online encyclopaedia on the life and works of Antonín Dvořák in Czech and English. Thanks to the care of AKH, the website has been given a more modern look, but also a higher quality technical processing, advanced search options, new ways of filtering, and a special section for news and topics related to Antonín Dvořák.
The website antonin-dvorak.cz has been providing information in Czech since 2007 and in English since 2013 – as a matter of fact, about a third of the visits are from abroad. It offers, among other things, a complete list of Dvořák's compositions, a photo gallery, a list of recordings of Dvořák's works, etc. Its content is now clearly accessible from mobile phones and tablets.
"The aim of the Academy of Classical Music is to nurture the artistic and human legacy of Antonín Dvořák in various forms. The operation and development of the Dvořák website is another important activity to fulfil this goal," explains Jan Simon, Intendant of the Academy of Classical Music and Director of the Dvořák Prague Festival.
Musicologist Ondřej Šupka, the founder of the website and a regular contributor to Dvořák Prague, continues to be the creator and author of its content. In addition to the News section, he also prepares an overview of Dvořák's operas performances or a detailed database of recordings of all Dvořák's opuses to date. He laso maps new literary publishings related to the life and work of Antonín Dvořák.
The Academy of Classical Music received funding for the entire project from the Karel Komárek Family Foundation, the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, and the State Fund for Culture.
